An award for a junior graphic design major who demonstrates outstanding distinction in their studio courses.Outstanding Sophomore Review Award
For current students who earn an “Exceeds Expectations” distinction in their Sophomore portfolio review, typically undertaken at the end of their third semester in the Department of Art + Design.Admissions

Portfolio Reviews
Merit Based Scholarship
A portfolio review is not required for students interested in enrolling as an art major in the South Carolina School of the Arts, but portfolio reviews are required for those seeking scholarship opportunities within the department. What to Submit
Upload a letter of recommendation from an art teacher, teacher, or professional who is familiar with your work.Bring a portfolio that includes:
- 15-20 images representing a variety of subject matter and a wide range of media (students are welcome to bring original works and/or a digital portfolio)

Evidence of creative problem-solving and capacity to draw from direct observations
- Be prepared to sit with a faculty member in the Department of Art+Design to discuss your pieces and experience with art and design
